Dr. S Talha Ahsan is a seasoned Electrical Engineer and educator, currently serving as the Head of the Department of Electrical Engineering at UIT University. He embarked on his academic journey by obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (Electronics) from UET Lahore in 1993. Subsequently, he pursued a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering, specializing in Communication and Signal Processing, at The Ohio State University in 1996.
Dr. Ahsan's career in academia began in 1997 when he joined the Usman Institute of Technology (UIT) in Karachi. He held various leadership positions, including heading the Electronic Engineering Department and contributing significantly to the institution's growth. In 2007, he received the HEC's 10% overseas scholarship, which allowed him to complete a Ph.D. in Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the University of Manchester, UK. After obtaining his doctorate in 2010, he returned to Bahria University, where he served as the Head of the Department of Electrical Engineering from 2010 to 2013. Dr. Ahsan also gained experience at DHA Suffa University, where he led the Department of Electrical Engineering from 2013 to 2014, before rejoining UIT in 2014.
Dr. Ahsan's commitment to continuous learning is evident through his participation in online courses and workshops in fields such as machine learning, artificial intelligence, and quality control. Moreover, his research contributions are extensive, with 20 publications to his name, covering topics like electrical impedance tomography and signal processing. His academic leadership, diverse educational background, and research achievements highlight his valuable contributions to the field of electrical engineering and academia.
